Just put up a wanted for any nice ramps anyone may have to replace the dull and aged ones I have.

If not replaced, I once read a good way to clean them up is simple dishwasher/detergent but won't that damage the stickers/decals underneath? Foam cleaner hasn't done much so far, it's a grey/dulled appaearance they have rather than dirt..... New ones are VERY expensive. Would rather not try the heat gun just yet if anyone else has ideas?

I'm guessing you have to remove the stickers first. Maybe carefully with a bit of heat so they can be reapplied. Failing that, new decals are cheaper than new ramps. Maybe someone on here has scans of them?
 
a word or warning - Make sure that the dishwasher cycle you use does NOT have a drying part to it - else your ramps will end up a melted mess....

Not talking from experience, however it would be an easy mistake to make......

If they are clean and free from dirt, is the remaining issue scratches? If it is, have you tried a gentle lick of a flame which can melt them out, too much and they will bubble.

Agree with Geoff ^^, prob actually surface scratches.

If you have used foam cleaner, then any amount of washing will prob make little difference now. Used plastic ramps, even cleaned and polished to within an inch of their lives, will never look as good as brand new sparkling clear new ones unfortunately.

If you are using the flame method .... then please practice on some scrap ramps first :fear:
 
Thanks all for the replies. I've seen the replacement decals, how are these applied to the ramp? Never done this before.

I think heat treatment is probably the only way to go as it's more than dirt... , just very nervous of doing it and no spares to practise on. If I plunge, may just try the wide centre ramp only first (the worst of the bunch) at least then I'd only have one to replace if I cock it up. Although, thinking one new one viewed against several old will just lead to all new replacements.....grr.
 
Never heard back from you Jonathan...... Anyway, I gave the flame treatment a go. Works well but only on minor marks/wear. Mine are just too deeply worn.

New ramps for a large chunk of money it is then... !
 
Just to update I now have a full set of new ramps courtesy of a fellow forum member. :)
 
Not quite, hoping for a clear afternoon or day tomorrow. :) Decided to go whole hog and replace ramp guard plastics and some others too. Few other bits to arrive; switches etc. and should be good to go. Wish me luck getting everything back where it came from !
