Whirlwind sound issues

Hi group
When I turn WW on the sound is very quiet for a minute. After playing for a short time it springs back into life.

As a side issue, very occasionally when powered on, the display doesn't come on. If I turn the machine off and on again it comes on.

Any ideas what might be causing these anomalies.

Perhaps some components on the way out?

I'd look at missing voltages due to hairline cracks in the relevant connectors first and foemost...
