Which type of led?

I'm looking to buy a load of leds to put in my various machines but I've no Idea which type to go for?

Concave top
Frosted
Smd
Super bright

Which type is the most popular for different places on a machine?

For inserts I use this type if it's on a machine that doesn't suffer from ghosting:

You may want to use the flex type ones in certain areas where the socket doesn't face directly at an insert as the light spread isn't as good with LED vs Incandescent so being able to direct the light is very useful. There's all sorts of different types of flashers, I generally go for the ones that aren't retina burning bright

It can be a minefield! Ghosting, non-ghosting, Rom-patching, LED OCD, frosted, super brights etc.

I always use an LEDOCD, so I DON'T use non-Ghosting LEDs.

If you don't use LEDOCD, then you should use them
And like I say in the link above, I just buy a load of frosted sunlight white 89's and 555's from Comet.

Great LEDs I use them in every pin, its like having a different machine once you change them all, not cheap at around £120 a pin if you do all the flashers as well, dont forget to use the discount code on Pinball LED, I forgot what it is, but sure somebody will tell us.
I keep a good selection of them now and dont bother with the kits as I found the orange and yellow look a bit dull compared to the brightness of the others, so I use white now in the orange and yellow inserts.

Agreed, use warm white in yellow and orange inserts rather than yellow/orange bulbs. Cool white in blue and purple inserts can also look better than blue/purple bulbs, at least in my experience anyway.

There are LEDs in my Star Wars and I've not noticed any but I'm not very sensitive to it so probably wouldn't notice unless it was really bad Some people seem to pick it up more than others.

To many people with ocd on the pinball trip.
Slight ghosting has and never will bother me.

The premium 2s on pinball led uk are excellent - but don't use them in the backbox - they give a halo effect. For back box use his superbrights which are also good if you don't suffer from ghosting on the playfield.

I always use colours and match them to the inserts - much richer Colin's that way.

Your backbox can look awful or beautiful depending on your choose of LED and the colours.

Don't be afraid to use incandescent in your backbox - I use a mixture of LED and incandescent in my back boxes.

I don't use LEDs in bumpers - they look awful IMHO. My games are 90s so LEDs just don't look right unless they are hidden behind an insert.

One day I'll try one of those bumper ring thingies maybe.
