Am dealing with some horribly pitted steel on this game, some need more than the usual tumble/ autol/ dremel

The refular posts with rubbers on - chrome plated Steel (tumbled) ?20220222_104443.jpg

The big supporting posts - zinc coated ?

Most solenoid frames- zinc coated steel, with chrome plungers ?

Ball trough stuff - zinc coated with chrome axels/ plungers?

Stainless steel lane guides ?

Is this stuff zinc coated ?

Is any of the zinc stuff passivated ?

Am wondering which bits to get zinc plated, which to get chrome plated, which to leave as just tumbled.

This trough kicker has been tumbled. The trough lane guide is pure born 1980s greatness20220222_103310.jpg

Not sure exactly what the posts are made of, but I put a bit of electrical tape over the threaded section and spun them with a battery drill, while I held a cloth with mild metal polish, come up looking brand new in seconds.

Those posts look like crappy chroming. A lot of late 80's/early 90's seem to have ropey looking zinc coating. I don't think the tumbling will help too much. Polish the stainless, get the metal zinc dipped.

That's what I'd do.
