What happened to my trough?

Pulled this trough out for a clean, and it's full of deep scratches across, which weirdly follow the contour. Hard to show on pictures but they're all over the place, and too deep to just polish off.

This is from an otherwise mint spike2 machine...

Anyone have any idea how this might have happened?

Some of the gashes are fairly ugly - I'm sure they will be scratching my balls, and not in a good way!

I doubt it it’s not on view and makes no odds to how the game plays

maybe from the box they were all in - jostling about in transport or being thrown about a bit on the assembly line. Dunno.

Probably a trough from the Godzilla stock pile that they had to use due to running low on parts

This will not damage your balls, I doubt it really matters.

Manufacturers today will not do anything that costs money that is not necessary.

It is caused by poor handling of the sheet steel prior to pressing. Those marks were there when the steel was just a flat sheet.
