What do other people collect

Nice 🙌

I’ve got loads of ones I managed to keep from the early 90s on …. Here’s a chaotic pile from a drawer .
unfortunately don’t often get real tickets these days so loads of gigs over the last decade I sadly don’t have a physical momento of.
So many festivals over the years too. God knows how many bands I’ve ever seen … I often wish I’d made a little note of every single band / gig I’d ever seen since mid/late 80s 😁
Never got to see Teenage Fanclub, awesome band

I last saw them 2016 I think and they still sounded wonderful - if a little less chaotic and noisy these days. Its a shame Gerry has parted company with them :(

One of the greatest TF performances - a perfect moment in time. Man I miss those pre phone , pre social media festival days

I’ve often felt hobbies/obsessive collections tend to be more of a male thing. (I know the cliche is about woman and shoes/bags but I don’t know many who endlessly trawl websites searching for missing items)

I often get criticised for not being able to do anything by halves. If something grabs my attention I get way too suckered in until the interest burns itself out. I’ve got hundreds of cookbooks but in all honestly hardly look at any of them.

I’m probably at the stage where I could wear a different band tour t shirt everyday and only have to start the washing cycle at the end of the year 😱 I literally own no other items of clothing apart from bloody band shirts and a couple of pairs of jeans.

We’ve got cupboards of board games that have never been played and probably never will be now that my son has left home. I went through a phase about 7 years ago of rebuying all the rpg stuff I had as a teenager and since then it’s sat unread in the loft but it would physically pain me to get rid of it. What the hell is a grown man going to do with obscure runequest modules? Something just feels right in knowing it’s there and I could lay my hands on it if I ever needed to.

My wife simply doesn’t have the same need to buy what she views as pointless crap. If it was up to her she’d dump 95% of everything I own. We’d be living in some type of dystopian sterile environment where everything was minimalist but ultra expensive.

Although I miss my vinyl collection it was probably extremely good for my mental health that I got shot of it. It expanded from a few hundred albums up to a thousand and then morphed into running a mail order business so I could justify buying hundreds of releases a month. It didn’t help that my boss at the time spent £20,000+ a month on 2nd hand vinyl to export to Japan so stuff was always around.

I’m dreadful about not getting shot of stuff 😢

It's not hoarding if it's books... I am getting new fitted shelves on Friday, I'm not looking forward to moving all of this out, even temporarily, on Thursday! I have another large box of books downstairs under a pin that will be moved upstairs when the shelves are up, though. Hopefully.

(I also have a ridiculous amount of clothes - a few years ago for a bet I wore a different outfit every day for 3 months without any duplicates. I gave up only because I wanted to re-wear a few things. I sold and took to charity 5-6 large bags of clothes when I moved here and I still have quite a lot...)

I also collect some Tron memorabilia - mostly stuff from the time . The original film , not Legacy …I really didn’t like what they did with the sequel.

I also like old 80s Computer magazines . Commodore 64 specifically but general ones too like C&VG , PCG etc
Still got my original Zzap 64 collection , bought the first 50 or 60 back in the day - filled in gaps of later issues and now complete . 🙌

Nice Tron stuff Grizz! Got a Bally Tron upright? The white lightcycle in Legacy is quite nice. The other Neca Tron figure re-issues were nice, I got those too, same figures but retro card.

That is a nice light cycle 👍 Yes I have the Neca 20th Anniversary figures. Carded original ones go for silly money . I’m a fan but not that much of a fan 😁

Before I started collecting Arcade and Pinball Machines, I had been collecting Console / Video games for a number of years. I have a small collection of just over 5,800 games 🤫

I was featured in the magazine "Games TM" back in 2005. I have not looked at it in years, so I thought it would be fun to dig it out for this thread and to my surprise, I realised someone else from the forum is also in the magazine 😆 @robotgreg

I think you missed the text in my post due to the weird formatting - but I don't have them any more. I sold them all a few years back. Otherwise I would have bheen more than happy to say yes :)

They played a wee festival last year near Stirling I attend, still sound great, finished with The Concept of course.

What a awesome video that was, thanks for posting 👍

Old copies of Razzle & Mayfair.

Oh okay then . . . .WWII memorabilia.

Picks to follow (of the war collection rather than the porn mags).
Would prefer pics of the former to be honest, but knock yourself out 👍😂

A fellow idlewild fan 😊
Think the first time I saw them was reading 95, playing the nme tent before foo fighters, I was hooked instantly
Think I've seen them more times over the years than any other band (over 10 now) but only have the tickets for a few of the gigs.

One of my favourite all time bands.

As my avatar and nickname suggest…I collect stereoscopic photographs. I have about 3,000 Victorian stereoviews, 3,500 Viewmaster reels plus boxes and boxes of stereo viewers, cameras and ephemera. I was the curator of the Stereoscopic Society for many years and now write for Stereo World, a US based magazine. My proudest achievement in the hobby…the year I beat Brian May for the award for best stereoscopic research article of the year. (He won the following year!)

I think I must have seen Lowgold about half a dozen times too. Longview as well, ooh takes me back
Loves Longview and must have seen them at least 6 times if not more.

Did you ever see Fell City Girl who supported Longview once? Great band, sadly got nowhere.
