image.jpg So what causing this I suspect the Dmd board.
These dots are not off all the time though weird?

Are you sure! Because various graphics modes actually lights up different bits of the display that are out in the photograph???

Kev

Well it certainly looks out-gassed but if you can light those areas then it isn't. What does the line-by-line test mode reveal?

It might not be dead yet but the terminal cancer is spreading . Say your last goodbyes and enjoy your final times together before upgrading to a newer model.

It looks like out-gassing is very likely, but have you confirmed that your voltages are all good first?

Well guys this gets even more weird.

Swapped the DMD board from my FT and it improved dramatically, but still not perfect. On DMD test the horizontal scrolling line had missing dots but not on the vertical line test!!!

Next swapped display from FT and put back original WH20 DMD board and still had similar probs so suspected it must be the DMD board.

Next, put the WH20 display in the FT (with the FT original DMD board) and it was better but still not perfect. So as you can see this got very confusing!!!

Next bought a DMD of Darren and stuck that in the WH20 with the original DMD board and it worked perfectly, so naturally thought it was the display.

Decided then that the common 4 Zeners (that fail) on the WH20 original DMD board looked a bit tired and burnt so replaced all 4. With the new display looked perfect (as you would expect) but hey presto! also with the original WH20 display back in (the one in the pic at the start of this thread) that also is perfect!!!

So I think the problem has been a dodgy DMD board zener(or 2) and possibly a display that may be on its way out but with a really good DMD board works perfectly!!!

Now I have a spare display that I can at least use for other machines when testing!!!!

Moral of the story here is don't right either DMD board or display off until you are sure both are fully up to spec!!! Cost me £3 for the zeners and 30 mins to put em in !!!

Guessing also my FT DMD board probably also needs the zeners replacing and hence why it didn't work perfectly with the original WH20 display.

You can guess what my next job will be on the FT DMD board can't you?

Cheers Kev
