Vector not starting via start button

Hi!

Any advice appreciated. Vector works fine, powers up, shows 25 credits on the display. Pressing start does nothing. I have three balls installed - high power seems to be there as when the game starts up, it fires the drop targets up. Typically, I know some games if you have the incorrect (lower) amount of balls installed the machine will go round the playfield, energising kick outs to ensure no ball is stuck somewhere, but Vector seems not to.

Any ideas on where to start? I am guessing voltage at the start button?

Cheers!

BJ

Check that the switches are actually registering in test. Vector has no ball search. It's just waiting for them to be in the correct position. Also run solenoid test to ensure it can actually kick the balls out of trough.

thanks - got the button working - it was the diode that was not actually soldered on - but you would not notice it unless you went really close.

So button now works, but game is kicking out two balls from trough into the plunger lane. I have installed 3 balls (I cannot see anywhere in the manual on how many to install). Leaf switches in trough close when all balls are home. One ball get's kicked out then a lot of solenoids engerize like it's starting the same player again, and another ball pops out leaving one in the trough.

Check the leaf switch that registers a ball has passed over it. Its on the short lane section under the black cover before it reached the play lane.
Mine did this too.

Set the contacts and she has been fine since.
