The way i look at this is simple. If someone has broken rules, thats one thing. If someone breaks the rules continually, and then creates multiple (multiple - not just one) new accounts to get around this... thats another thing altogether.
Oh and then uses the ban as a tool...
Its very rare (and thats thanks to everyone on here) that someone gets banned.
I only had one communication with Neil post the ban. It wasnt insulting, it wasnt protesting innocence.
I get the "if someone hasnt done anything illegal" approach - and i get that Neil did push the boundaries on occasion (and as i have said before I personaly have no issues with him)... However whats the point in having any rules if people continue to ignore them and they arent enforced?
And i am sure that Neil has an account on here as he cant keep away - possibly many.

Its worth noting the community here are ace, like punters in a bar. Great banter which I love. I've run a bar for 20 years, love the late night banter and shenanigans, lockins etc...we've had punters that other punters like, friendly, buying rounds at the bar etc, but behind the scenes grabbing bar girls ****s. The staff (in this case mods) step in, one warning, 2 warnings, but still the **** grabbing continues...its not down to the happy punters being bought drinks to make the decision if the guy gets barred or for how long.

No. He drove out several of the 10 year+ members (fun banterous types) by being an unsufferable troll and dragging the mojo of the forum through the floor.
Given what he’s done for pinball in the UK, it’s a shame Neil can’t take part here, amongst the trolling there was always a lot of useful insight and experience
Most sites stick to serious illegal activity being the permanent ban criteria, because that’s then defensible if legal action happens
As with anything, the rules are at the discretion of the site owner and clearly state this isn’t a democracy, and as per the rules we’re not allowed to question or discuss why, so I guess we’d best shut up

Nope.... a long way from it... i suggest you read my post above.
He was on a ban already and the rules state you can't make multiple accounts which caused the admins to make the decision for the permanent ban.
I say let him back, he'll probably be on another ban after a couple of weeks anyway.

Why did I create this poll? Idle curiosity really. The results after 3 days are:
63% yes, 15% no, and 22% abstention
...and lots of interesting discussion about this community as a whole. Been quite civilised too, nice one chaps

Neil knows he is a troll and never tried to hide it but it was all banter and never meant to upset anyone...
I have a similar sense of humour but when your face to face with people they get where its coming from but over in web its always lost in translation
Neil is a good guy and a lot better then a lot of his critics and haters on here, all of whom have benefited from him being in the hobby... And some people not named who have said some hideous things behind his back but then happily accepted him paying the bill for a pint and meals.....
He's 100% getting a kick from this thread

Quite often Maria and I are asked why would anyone leave Spain to come live here. We do miss at times the weather and the gastronomy but the level of culture, civilisation and values of the UK’s society is just unparalleled and although this thread was already a good example of it that last reply in a form of a poem was just unreal.
