Hey all

Hope someone can help, been trying to fix this board, the Extra Ball light doesn't come on, nothing wrong with the bulb or bulb holder, tried refreshing the solder but it still won't work.

Any thoughts?DSC_1535.JPG

The solder joints on the header look like they might be cracked, also the pads where the bulb holder makes contact look excessively worn

Once the solder is right. If it still doesn't work, it has to be the diode, or the wire in the harness is making poor contact with the IDC housing

Well I tried with a meter and both the other bulbs make a connection but the middle bulb doesn't make any connection when is in place. I have done a bit of fiddling with the solder but still nothing, will keep trying :) thanks gang

Whats the header by the way? where the wire connection plugs in?

Yes reflow the solder on each of the header pins, reflow and add more solder on the lamp holder connector pads on the board id be amazed if that doesn't sort your prob. If it doesn't then like like says check the diodes then if that doesn't work you need to trace back further

Also check the black bulb holder to make sure the contacts are both unbroken.
Try another just to be sure.

next thing is to check the diodes, reflowed the solder on everything and it still didn't work, gutted! had a look at the cables to and they all look sound/tight into the housing.

Are extra balls switched on in the software?

Swap the bulb holder and bulb from another known working slot into the problem one, see if it works.

If not then continunity check the path from the connector to the bulb edge (pin 3 or 4), check the continunity from the connector to the diode and from the diode to the bulb edge (the other pin 3 or 4). Check the diode on diode setting. Place back in the game put it in test mode (all lamps) and wiggle the connector to see if it starts working.

Then report back. Good luck!

thanks mate, I'll give that a go...its a pain as I'd rather just buy a new board but no where that I can see stocks new ones
