ive just replaced q50 on the board and its not happy now it saying ground row 1 not closed what i have done wrong

q50 is the left jet bumper. The switch for that is also on row 1. Likely then that you have a short on that row that blew up the transistor

first off the jet bumper stuck on and fryed the solinoid so i replaced the coil and q50 then get this what else could it be

Check that Q50 on the right way round? Did you check the coil to see if it shorted as well? Did you check the predrive transistor and associated components such as diodes, etc...? Was the lock on caused by a closed switch that is still closed?

Just as few thoughts to help you on your way...! Good luck :)

ive put new coil on as other one had melted ive on changed q50 and put it same way as others ive not changed any thing else

Pull the switch connectors from the board (J207 & J209). If that clears the error then you know its a wiring fault. If not, its a board fault.

That's what I'm talking about, right there. That's the stuff I want to learn, to know. That's gold dust.

ive pulled j207 and j209 and fault still there
when i power machine up it fires top two flippers then they stop the top set of flashes stay on all the time f902 and f901 fuses keep blowing and still got ground row 1 not closed

just pulled power board back out and found i hadnt soldered the Q50 in correct

the left pin and middle pin not connected whould this have caused the issue i got know

Not 100% sure, but seems unlikely to me.

The number of faults you're talking about suggest something bad has happened. Either you have battery corrosion on the CPU board, or you've somehow shorted the solenoid high power to the switch matrix (and blown up U20/U19/U18)

Where in the world are you Glyn? May be worth calling the experts in as I'm not sure how to best continue. If you have a short in the playfield you could make numerous board repairs and then fry them all again when the switch matrix is reconnected

im in uk cheshire it all started when top jet stopped on and melted the coil so i took it off tand the game was fine just no top bumper ordered a new coil and tip120 chip replaced both on friday now got this issue

...and melted the coil so i took it off tand the game was fine just no top bumper...

So when you desoldered the coil, did you perhaps just leave the wires dangling? If so, is it possible the 50v wire has touched one of the switch wires?

possiable but it was like that for 2 months till i got round to fixing it and it played ok

Sounds like you still need to check the predrive transistor and associated components. It is possible that the driver ic is damaged but you need to sort everything else first before heading down that route.

With the problem you're reporting I'd also check the flipper switches are intact...!

Tricky problems glyn

First things first. Check the small board in the top right corner of the backbox. That runs your flashers. If the robbo cable is connected upside down it will turn on all the flashers constantly. Secondly, is that ribbon cable connected to the port on the CPU board (the one with the batteries on) that reads "display". It should be.
You mention you replaced your q50 with a tip120. Is that a typo as it should be a tip 102.
Just to clarify. You're getting a switch row ground error, and the error remains when you unplug j207 and j209 (small connectors on the bottom of the CPU board). I.e you turn off the machine, disconnect the connectors, then switch back on and the error remains?
