TOM wanted

Thinking of selling Rog?

God no. Mine's still a keeper (at most I might do a loaner swap at some point for variety's sake if you fancy a change from MMr ;) ).

Its just that someone coincidentally asked me this week how much he'd be looking at for one himself - I told them how much I paid for mine but don't know if that still reflects reality.

I'd take a stab at 2 - 3k range depending on condition (and for 3k I'd be expecting a mint refurb with a new pf, that or it comes with invisiglass and a ColorDMD)

Thats coming out on the "hellishly expensive" side of things in my own personal opinion. When I said 3k was my max I was meaning that was the price you could probably get for a minty looking and playing refurb.

It comes down to how much it's worth to you personally of course and if you're buying it from a professional reseller they'll attach a premium on it I guess. I'd not expect to see anything outside perhaps a PinballHeaven "as new" refurb quality TOM at anything like near £4k though.

PH refurbs generally ARE minty fresh. My TAF came from a guy who got it as a PH refurb and thats pretty much as good as new. I have to admit to paying slightly over the 'normal' pricing for that one myself, just because it was in such good nick.

If you want top quality and are prepared to pay for it I don't think there's many on here that would have anything bad to say about Phil & Pinball Heaven.

If you have any problems, he's also got a very good rep for after-sales service as well.

A lot of people down south would happily set them on fire rather than have to endure playing one. Hence why SCTOMA was born can't rem what it stands for @GriZz will fill you in

This has intrigued me for days! What does it actually mean??
Cue the anti climax!

There is a general perception (on this board at least) that in the UK, Northerners like TOM and hate Popeye & Southerners hate TOM and love Popeye. The origin of this schism is lost in the mists of time, only the hate remains.

Each side takes every oportunity given to poke at the other like kids with a stick and a handy wasps nest.

The more civilised members of the community just roll their eyes and stay clear of discussions whenever it flares up. Kind of like "Middle-of-the-road" voters in the USA when election time rolls around.

Ah, i see i see. Thought it was going to be something along the lines of: Years ago, 20 odd members on here all bought mint condition TOMs at a premium price and were stored in a warehouse awaiting delivery. Then the warehouse mysteriously burned down due to a suspiciously discarded cigarette or stray firework....

Nope, southerners just set them on fire for the fun of it. Money doesn't mean anything to them, with their huge games rooms and their oversized garden pinball sheds! ;)

i love tom, as a southener, but then again was brought up in Ellesmere port so maybe thats why i like it :):):)
