Spooky advised to replace this with new, run burn test and see how it goes....

Is there anyone here that would be interested for love or money to check out this faulty PSU I have and report back as to what has gone on it? That way I can isolate if its just a failed unit or there is something wrong with my machine and I can take this further

Please let me know

Thanks

You can send it to me if you want (or drop off in Chiswick Park if convenient)

Many thanks. Im working at Sky studios tonight - can I drop it off en route ?

looking at the pics you posted on the other thread, it did look like the issue was on the primary (Mains) side as opposed to the output side... however that was only a cursory glance :)

As per the Spooky thread. The exact item is available and relatively inexpensive, Spooky sending a replacement would take a long time.
Like @SeikoKid, I would want to be confident that the replacement isn’t going to put stress an upstream, hard to replace, part.

It doesn’t take long to get a part from Spooky, a week tops from them sending. I should know😏
Maybe an engineer should go and look at it to be on the safe side seeing as its brand new with warranty, what happens if you make it worse?
Phil probably has been told so if it goes up in smoke he will send another😁

If I bought anything for 10k ,or whatever it is , I wouldn’t expect to have to research, find and replace a faulty part myself tbh. These guys are charging big boy money so they need to put big boy pants on and stop running it like a hobby.

Just my opinion, knowing less than all the facts 😁

The prices they charge, no doubt they are in the big league now! They could get a part here in three days. If it’s a faulty board, then it was only a matter of time before it failed. Get a replacement asap. If it fails again then you can investigate a bit further. You should not have to pay anything to fix this..

I will say the loose washer is a bit of a concern, The only spooky pin I have is Alice Cooper and to be honest I’ve never had a problem with it, granted it’s not on every day. Playfield is way better than any Stern or JJP!

I’m waiting for tech diagnosis from @drhex but as of yesterday and running tests with a new psu the game is back working within tech specs / i’ve spoken with spooky and confirmed results are inline with factory values

From peoples replies, those i deem to have greater electronic experience have all suggested a failed psu. I am inclined to agree , spooky said the same

The fact that the game just went off without any fade or glitch did point to a failed part

And if these pinheads due round on Saturday break it again - i have some spares 😂

I live next to RS heathrow and i’m an electrician, i deal with stuff like this all day , just not in pinball machines

Spooky commented that stuff like this does happen, especially with the volume of electronics used nowadays and it’s not anyone’s fault. I know this from my line of business too - i’m just fortunate i have the ability to fault find and repair myself.

Perhaps my outlook would be different if i didn’t have the tech skills needed

Any money spent will be refunded by spooky - no issues there

Game on😎
I used to use the Green Lane RS, didn't know one was in Southall. I lived up the road from there off the broadway before I moved here. Shop much better there.
I moved years ago though and it’s changed a lot around there.
