The "Today I received" Thread

Yes its a quality game [emoji846]
PF and cab a bit tatty. Not surprising after 20 years of zero maintenance.
If the CPU isn't too bad I'll have go at it myself.
Not sure whether to repaint and clear the pf or spring for a CPR replacement.

Nice. I would have gone for that if Taxi hadn't worked out.[emoji846]

You definitely got a much better pin Andy.

Not played Kings of Steel yet, but I hear it’s nothing Special. The playfield is a mess on this one, but for £400 I can’t complain.

When you see a cheap pin just get in the car and figure out how you’re going to get it home later.

It’s all about being the first one there and putting the money in the sellers hand.

It was a tight squeeze in the car but well worth it!

The eBay Taxi arrived today. (In the sense that I collected it [emoji846])
Seller seemed a nice guy, had it 20 years and genuinely did not know that the backglass lifted out and there were circuit boards in the back. Or how to remove pf glass!!
I pretty much knew this and knew it was a bit of a punt whether the CPU board had dissolved from battery leakage.
My heart sank when I saw the state of the batteries in the holder. When I went to grab them the holder lifted clean off the board - the contacts had completely corroded away.
A closer look at the CPU shows no obvious corrosion.
The 6821 in the pic is covered in clear gunk which must be from the battery leakage but the traces underneath seem unaffected.
Eco friendly batteries?[emoji1]fecef375f1280d616716ed8253f471ae.jpg689fe8ef17b96c85770d02897d53695a.jpge5a27c8aa01e1754413d16a97e0d6f0d.jpg

Seen worse! You may get away with it if you take chip off board/neutralise etc

Whoa! Looks like a fresh leak if that's from the batteries. Good luck with your Taxi

Pinnovators sub system, for 4 SAM’s but they have just updated it to connect to 5 pins with increased output so need to decide which other one to connect to if I like it.
Waiting on parts to make a sub filter for the sub as it doesn’t have one built in😔

I squirted distilled vinegar onto it and it fizzed up like a good 'un[emoji2]

The traces seem unaffected and the pins of the 6821 that were covered in it were still shiny. So, despite allegedly being unchanged for 20 years, the batteries have possibly only recently leaked onto the 6821 chip.

I am never that lucky though. We shall see.[emoji16]

Ok. Many of you on here know i have had a tombstoned Williams Black knight for a very long time. Forgot exactly how long but i
Have been at my current address in Brockenhurst for 11 years and I had it way before that. Well it’s finally in the workshop 😍
It was aquired as a non working machine. It cost me £80 or £90 that i seem to remember, at the time.
The game has original playfield (not mylared). In above average condition. And original cabinet artwork. No ideas what’s wrong with it now or back then.
So here’s the plan. We need more workshop space so I intend to take 6 weeks off this summer. Tick along with customers machines to pay the bills and repair/restore at least four of my tombstone games. (Flight2000, future spa, black knight and or fireball classic / pat hand)
Over the years some of you have dibbed for my black knight if you are still alive / interested let me know as I cannot recall who you were! These games will be either sited or sold. Wish me well!
Cheers Keith.
