That new pinball cafe

"The opening hours of the cafe are Mon - Fri 8am - 8pm ( with pinball only from 7pm -8pm) Sat 9am - 7pm Sun 10am - 6pm"

I wonder if the pinball is allowed at weekends
 
It's a bit clearer on their website - I think they mean you can carry on playing the pins during the week till 8pm

Opening Hours

Mon - Fri

8am - 7pm

(Pinball lounge stays open until 8pm)

Sat

9am - 7pm

Sun

10am - 6pm

That makes a lot more sense.
 
That's what I was thinking. Assuming they're all average condition, that's a 28-30K lineup that he's allowing Joe Public to play on, clearly he has a fat bankroll to support his idea. It wouldn't be my first choice, I'd start with six games that are £1200 each but reliable players rather than that lot, but good luck to him. If someone goes, can they report back here what it's like?

Let's hope he's gonna be ok about the teens and the wastrels giving them a good old thwack when they lose their ball :(
 
Good on him for putting those titles on site, that's where they should be ....not being polished and waxed to within an inch of their lives for a gang of gonks to oooh and ahh over , and played twice on a Sunday if they are lucky. These games were meant to be used.... they aren't made of tissue paper, they can actually stand up to people playing them you know.
 
Best of luck to him, I hope he makes a go of it. I'd definitely visit if I was in London.

What more would you want, pinball, coffee and cake and lots more pinball!!!

For his second site he could try up in Edinburgh, give us north of the border a good go!!!

Does it? no, you got me wrong there

I agree with Ivan that games need to be out in the wild rather than being stuck with gonks like me. I'm lucky enough to have a great collection myself so I have no jealousy whatsoever and I hope for success for this Sam fella and his new cafe, I promise you.
 
Fair play Dan, I think its brill that he has made these amazing games available for everyone to play on, not everyone has a nice collection that they can play from their own home, there are a lot of teens that might just get interested from playing them and may buy one or two of your games down the line :)
 
Shame Turnham Green is a bit out of the way, will definitely still pop down soon though with that lineup. Hope they run the odd freeplay evening or day.
 
Sam is a really nice guy. I am going to see the line up in a few weeks and really looking forward to it.
 
I was in London today, so I popped into the Chief coffee shop for a couple of hours of games this afternoon.

Just a couple of minutes walk from Turnham Green Underground station, (turn left outside the Underground station and head towards Chiswick) The cafe is set back from the road in a small yard. The 5 games are all downstairs in the basement with the coffee shop upstairs. The staff were all friendly, and the coffee/food excellent, but unfortunately Sam the owner of the games wasn't present today to chat about the machines.

The games were as advertised and all fully working (although CC had a credit dot!) ;) The Bally/Williams games are 50p a game (3 balls) The WOZ and Star Trek Pro were the usual £1 a game or £2 for 3 games (again 3 balls). Plenty of extra balls, generous end of game matches, and (currently) low replay levels means excellent value for money (Brewdog & The Pipeline please take note...) :wave: MM was quite brutal, but the rest of the games played very nicely indeed! The room was getting quite warm when I was in there, maybe some air conditioning would help during the summer months. While I was there I shared the games with one of the East European blokes who plays regularly at the Pipeline (sorry, forgotten his name now), plus an occasional curious person that came down from the cafe upstairs. The cafe didn't seem to be very busy, but there seemed to be quite a few regulars popping back already.

In all a very worthwhile detour from the centre of London for a session on some top class machines!
