Terminator 2 flipper problem

Hey guys, just an update.

Capacitors arrived and I've finally swapped them out, spotted a burnt out trace on the board when I removed it so fixed that. I was just about to reinstall the board and spotted something else blown, It's connected to the heatsink in location U1. Some of the details are missing off it and I can't find any info in the manual. Very happy I spotted it before plugging it back in but feels like another step backwards.

Thanks Paul, as they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day 😅

I assume it needs thermal paste as that's one of the things listed in the manual at U1

Hey everyone, been away a while as dealing with a newborn but finally got a little escape time to get everything switched out. Unfortunately I'm still not getting sound just a rapid pulse noise. LED D20 is flashing with the noise. Everything is disconnected again. I got nothing.

LED D20 is flashing with the noise
After D19 has gone out, this should stay flashing permanently while the game is on. This indicates (when flashing continuously) that the CPU is running. D21 - This should 'always' be on. This indicates that the 5VDC power is on the CPU board.

Is the machine booting? Usually you get the tick tick noises when it is trying to boot.

Any batery corrosion on the CPU board?

All LEDs are acting as your 2nd diagram shows, the machine boots up and is playable, the ticking noise is constant through the speakers while playing but no other sound come through. There is no corrosion on the batteries terminal or anything below it. It does look fairly clean for that age of the machine so maybe replaced before I bought it.

I removed all connectors, wires, ribbon cable and fuses to check again for damage/bad contact. Found nothing out of the ordinary. Put it back together and oh my words. The nostalgia of the music! Don't know which one it was but must've been something loose. 🥹
