The tariffs are not the problem, it is the uncertainty around them. The tariffs are on, then they are off, then they are on again, they are 20%, now they are 50%, now they are gone again.
When there is political uncertainty, people stop spending.
10 years ago when I ran a business, there was political unrest here in Australia. Every time there was speculation as to who was going to be our new Prime Minister, people stopped spending money. Same with elections, when the election is called, business drops
