Are we going to see a massive and destructive price increase on NIB US imports on April 2nd?
 
I may have missed something but I thought UK tariffs atm are just export on steel and aluminium. We haven’t announced any retaliatory tariffs so we shouldn’t see a price increase because of that.

I do think there will be a slight price increase on the next stern in $ though partly due to the tariffs and partly because they haven’t done one for a while. That might mean a price increase here too depending on how £ performs against $ in the meantime.

So I don’t think we will have ‘massive and destructive’ price increases here but maybe in Canada or other countries that implement 25% retaliatory tariffs.

yes we should be fortunate that we’re not directly effected by tariffs in UK, Aussies and Canadians nightmare and US buying from EU e.g Dutch the same . Dutch must be proper worried that all the US buyers of Alice will bin their deposits rather than pay an extra 25% nib , especially when the level of nib losses are an unrealistic for most anyway.
Also GBP stronger v US nearly 1.30, so if anything should be possible for distros in uk to pass on some extra savings to nib buyers here

Supply chains are interlinked and global so prices of everything are going to increase to varying degrees, even if UK/US don't get into a *** for tat tariff escalation. So whilst massive increases won't necessarily come in April, they will definitely happen over time. Everything is going to get more expensive, and all economies are going to suffer,

Regarding stern releases don't forget ( apparently) spike 3 is coming, maybe with their next release. That's bound to bring it's own price increase.
 
Dont forget, I dare say that all electronc boards in all pinball machines are made in China, so when stern imports them, they will have to pay a tariff

Even if there is not tariff to import a pinball machine, the cost to make them will be going up

The tariffs are not the problem, it is the uncertainty around them. The tariffs are on, then they are off, then they are on again, they are 20%, now they are 50%, now they are gone again.
When there is political uncertainty, people stop spending.
10 years ago when I ran a business, there was political unrest here in Australia. Every time there was speculation as to who was going to be our new Prime Minister, people stopped spending money. Same with elections, when the election is called, business drops
 
If we do get into a tariff war with the US it won't necessarily include pinball machines. The proposed EU tariffs on the US - 99 pages long - includes all sorts of things from lawn mowers to motorcycles, food to clothing, beer to bourbon. But no mention of pinball machines.
 
Naive answer

UK exports of new pinball machines to US is zero so no reciprocal tariff applicable

Its the unpredictable nature of Trump screwing the whole world
