Hi, I want to pop the TAF Gold Rom in my TAF and know that I need to sort out either adding a interlock switch assembly or sorting it so that the machine gets the "door closed" message since the TAF GOLD won't play until it gets this message. Anyone done this or can point the way to wire it so that it'll be satisfied. I have a spare interlock switch I can add easy enough. The TAF GOLD manual mentions WHT-RED & BLK-YEL wires.

My Taf isn't a gold but has the gold roms in it and works fine. I didnt add any door switches as it already had one???

Cheers

When mine has the GOLD rom in, it says the door must be closed. The interlock switch thats on there is for the memory I think? The Gold manual suggests that there are 2 interlock switches on a gold machine.

did the gold machine not have the 2nd switch to disable playfield high power? i'm sure that's the only difference, but i'm sure someone on here will correct me if i'm wrong!! ;)

cheers

Yes, hence the gold rom looking for that data (keeps asking me to close the coin door as the switch isn't present).

thats weird as mine doesnt ask to close the coin door and only has one switch??? it does on power up if I remember correctly(its in storage) but thats it - after that it plays normally.

Need a shout up from other gold rom users on here

Cheers

I've put the Gold rom back in, it pops the message up, but you can escape it by opening the machine and pressing back/escape. Does this only once. I'd prefer if i didn't need to do that.

If you'll permit, this may help to clarify this issue;

The TAF GOLD manual mentions WHT-RED & BLK-YEL wires.

These wire colours are for the transformer windings of the solenoid and flashbulb power circuits - they should NOT be connected together, either permanently or by a switch. Between the production runs of regular Addams and the Gold edition, WMS had introduced a safety cut-out switch to disable these power rails when the door was opened. The early games with this extra switch, e.g. Indiana Jones PBA, didn't have the 'Door Open..' message. Because the Gold edition was produced after the adoption of the power interlock/message, the Gold software has the message, but so long as the cabinet/door has the basic switch fitted & working then the message should operate from that - the program won't actually know if the power circuits are live or not, though it could assume they are as it notices activity.

The interlock switch thats on there is for the memory I think? The Gold manual suggests that there are 2 interlock switches on a gold machine.

On all but the earliest Williams board-sets, the 1st (and only) switch was connected directly to the 'computer' side, and prevented the adjustments being changed unless the door was open. The Wpc system changed it to a 'matrix' switch, Column 2, Row 2, and programming stops the test/adjustment mode, etc, being entered unless it's read as Open. Two games that object to the door being left open are Dr. Who and Johnny Moronic.

In case you don't know, you can disable the buy in feature in the menu. Otherwise it'll drive you mad at the end of every single game.

Turned out it was just wired up incorrectly!

Yep,, did that immediately!

I take it that the buy-in can't be used on a regular Addams due to lack of the additional button in the cabinet. I wondered about that when I heard that Addams Gold had a buy-in; a bit of thought could've got around this by using the flipper buttons to accept/decline.
