Sys11 Flippers wiggle and kill dead bounces, is this normal?

On Diner dead bounces have always been risky compared to every other pin in the house. I thought it was the playfield protector at first but some Googling indicated the bushings can be worn and allow the flipper bat shaft to move. The flippers have a bit of sloppiness to them, they move when at rest or held up. I compared to Road Show and Fish Tales' flippers and they feel solid.

After UK Pinfest I did a full flipper rebuild with new bushings from Pinball Mania and it hasn't improved it at all.

I've tried to record the wiggle but it's a difficult as it's more noticeable when ball hits the flipper bat and I need four hands for that (I'll ask Claire to help tomorrow).

So could it be a sys11 flipper mech thing? Although the differences between sys11 and wpc aren't those which would affect that?

Could the new bushings have holes that are too big? Maybe a bad batch?
Or is this normal?

When you rebuilt the flippers did you replace the rubber grommets too? (Black nubs against which the crank rests.)

I don't think the grommet would affect the flipper when it's up.

It really feels like the flipper shaft has too much movement in the bushing. But they're new. The flipper bats are also relatively new.

At the risk of spoiling two machines, you could try that thought by transplanting a bushing or flipper, or both, from a Wpc game. Though it sounds reasonable, the flipper should have a little vertical movement (as with the discussion on 'flipper issue'), but not sideways in the bushing.

I doubt it's a system 11 thing. Williams stated when the Fliptronic system was introduced 'the new flippers play with the same subtleties as the old ones', possibly a dig at DE/Sega (whichever it was at the time). And there were Wpc games pre-dating Fliptronic solid-state flipper drive.
