Have you done this yet? It's all a process of elimination you see..

Not yet mate but I will look in to it and go through it, don’t want to mess anything up anymore than it is so will make sure I research what I’m doing first

If you have the manual for the motherboard, you could check to see if it mentions POST indicators - LED flashes or beeps that might indicate where it gets to in the boot process before sometimes failing.

A couple of other things it could be that can be tested for:

- Failing RAM: these can be tested using the memtest86.com tool - instructions on that website.

- Silver paste between CPU fan and CPU has gone hard/bad. Remove the fan, scrape off the old paste, and replace with a tiny blob of new paste - instructions on YouTube.

Thanks, will check this also. I did wonder about the ram. Will get some thermal paste and reseat that too

You need to do these things in order. Check the power on thing first.

Reseat ram or replace it. You should only need 2GB

Good point about the paste on the cpu but as its on boot up I dont think the cpu would heat up that quick.

Do the caps look okay?

I would change the motherboard. You can pick them up cheap!
