From the depth's of despair (which is how I like to think of dry January) comes more dubious news as yes, you've guessed it, it's time to plan for that annual trip to Swavesey (Yay! Wheee! Yippee! and so on)

Yes it's the time of year when I start to bother the usual epic folk who always help and assist - you know who you are and if you don't you're listed on the site somewhere

All welcome and as usual we will be laid back and friendly because, let's face it, enthusiasm is for triers and Swavesey sort of generally misses that demographic, however there will be the UK Cup on Sunday for those who are into the thrill of the competition. For the rest who prefer the sun there's chat, friendship and free advice (at reasonable rates....one beer per fix usually).

It's great to see some of the more recent converts to Swavesey pledging tables but we *always* have room for more so if you have a table you can bring for the weekend that not only buys you the gratitude of the rest of us it also supports the charity too

For a bit of fun this year I'll be bringing along a Bally 'Black Jack' fitted with a dual boot system running the original rules and an ARM based custom set of totally different rules too, so thats two in one!

I'd suggest that anybody considering entering the comp at Pinfest this year plays a few games at least on Black Jack and gets to know the original ruleset

Hi Mark - are we pre-booking food Saturday evening again this year?

I've booked twenty odd places for the Saturday night same as last year, the current landlord/lady are far more relaxed so I figured that we could all order exactly what we wanted off the menu during Saturday and then sit together when we were ready Saturday evening.

Sunday this year there's going to be an outdoor barbeque running so the compo will not need that rush to eat thing as folk can grab and go.

For the rest of the time the bar menu runs all day until 5pm and looks like this:

True, but Mr. Flower who usually brings along the poker set has had to leave for Spain this year and my set is out with my son-in-law so someone else will need to bring a set along. I'll message Martin Ayub as I believe he owns one.
