Support Bar Thingy

As a newb to this site I've been asking a few daft questions and getting sensible answers
Here is my latest one.
In the body of my TZ cabinet attached to the right hand wall is a bar with a yellow handle.
What the hell does it do???
It surely doesn't hold up the playfield when raised does it ?

That's exactly what it does

It's a useful way to prop the playfield up for very short periods of time, like if your game was in a pub and you had to go and do a quick fix. The bar isn't strong enough to support things for longer though so I wouldn't bother using it in the home, just fully raise the playfield

Yep, fine for older games where there is far less weight involved with fewer playfield mechs, but they really struggle with wide body games like TZ - you can almost see the playfield stressing and bending

Are you sure you're not talking about the handle just inside the coin door to release the lockdown bar?

That doesn't really seem such a daft question, actually. As the Sarge says, in a wide body game loaded with equipment, it does look decidedly inadequate. I've only owned one Gottlieb solid-state game, and I'm sure it had an 'H' frame to support the 'mid-size' playfield on both sides. Incidentally, the support was fitted on the left side in a couple of instances where playfield devices prevented the usual placement on the right.

Not the lock down bar - the one attached to the right side of the cabinet. You're right guys, it's inadequate as a support for my TZ - the playfield warps if you use the 'support' bar - doesn't feel safe at all.

A cut down broom handle works well

Cool idea. That would be the cheapest TZ mod I've ever seen [emoji3]
