Ok, all flashers on STTNG working except romulan flasher which flashes very dimly (never seen this before) and backboard flasher which doesn't work at all. The weird thing is that both backbox flashers associated with each of these playfield flashers DO work in test.
Any ideas guys ?

Funnily enough I was working on my sttng flashers this morning.
One of the led flashers was lighting dim like you described.
Some of my newish (12 months) comet flashers were gone.

Put your machine in test where you have the back box flashers working. Then swap a known working bulb with one of the playfield bulbs that is not working, if the swapped bulb doesn't work in the back box then replace it with new. Repeat until you know all playfield bulbs and rest of backbox bulbs are good. Once all the blown flashers are removed out of the circuits then you'll probably have cleared the problem and have working flashers when in the game.

Thanks chaps. I'll work on it tomorrow and report back. Today was taken up with watching Wolves beat Bristol City 3-2. Those poor buggers must be gutted - they were better than us

Finally got around to looking at this again. Changed bulbs for known working - romulan and right ramp playfield don't work but their back box partners do.

Checked voltage on playfield romulan flasher - between 2v and 7v.

Checked voltage on right ramp playfield flasher - nothing.

I guess it is J107-6.
What test do I next guys ?

Check that - if it is J107-6 that is the problem then the other flashers wouldn't work - and they do.

... and it can't be J3-2 or J3-3 cos they are used by back box flashers which are working.

Totally lost

Always worth checking the wiring loom on the left hand side. It is frequently trashed by the playfield slider. Look for any damage there. Also ensure that that the loom is plugged into the correct connector.

All sorted ! Turned out that there was a loose wire in the board connector on J3. Thanks for the replies and the help chaps :-)
