A11 Auxiliary Driver board.
Some games needed additional MosFET driving transistors because the 32 available on the driver board for coils and flash lamps just were not enough. This is done through a small Auxiliary Driver board, which has eight additional 12N10L MosFETs. This board connects directly to the CPU board, and is generally used just to power flash lamps. Not all System3 games use this board.
Hi guys thanks for your input, yes the connector is smoke damaged. I was relly worried about reconnecting it tho like you guys pointed out i think its mainly or additional lighting. Im also struggling with the dreaded car smash flipper.. worked like a dream for 10 games and now has lost its power I'm suspecting a loose connection. On the plus side i did manage to get my left slingshot working again... unfortunately the right one is still on the blink.. do you think i can track the faults with a multimeter? sorry I'm new to this, tho I'm willing to learn
I never owned one until I got this into this hobby. I'd say its the most useful tool after a digital camera to take pictures for getting help on here and recording what you meddle with. Then next up a soldering iron to fix the problems you find with your DMM.
The first port of call is to check the fuse for the sling - it is likely that it will be a 1 amp slow blow underneath the playfield in the top left hand corner. I would also check for a broken wire off the something in the slingshot mechanism like a switch or the coil.
Heres what she looks like underneath. I have ran the test function and it has come up with solenoid 2 right kicking rubber.I opened up the back box and attached a earthd crocodile clip and worked my way along the bottom left hand corner activating all the switch manually,The left kicking bumper is strong but as i moved to the right its as dead as a duck. Im thinking it could be cold solder? the test mode also showed up inoperative switches switch 42 top centre target WH .. Switch 81 car smash (opto) and switch 90 r trough opto.
Ok so I have a smooch around on youtube turns out that on close inspection (my first use of my new screwdriver kit- the slingshot coil had a very thin red wire that was snapped so i unwound it once and sandpapered the wire then wound it onto the connector and bingo super strong slingshot. I have also found out that the car smash flipper has power just not enough to sack the ball its more of a tiny tap... think its just cold solider so thats my next task.. oh and chung lee seems to have a ****ing mind of her own -intermittently.. women ehh
Still feel it's lacking in as the yanks say "pop" factor . I'd like more in the back box but the aux light board is dodgy and I can't find another so I'm kinda stuck ... Any thoughts ?
