Strange problem with my MET Pro

Ive had my Met Pro around 4.5 years now. Its my most played game, and its never skipped a beat in all that time. That was until a week ago. I turned it on, and the Total Light show illumination came on, but the game did nothing. No GI, no DMD, no pop from the speakers :hmm:
I left it for a moment to see if anything happened, but nothing... completely dead

So I turned it off, and then back on again.. still nothing, so I did it for a 3rd time, and then after leaving it 20seconds or so the game came to life. I pressed the start button to try the game, and after a couple of minutes the game crashed and was unresponsive, so I gave it another power cycle.

This time when I tried a game half way through the message for 20v/50v disabled started flashing on the screen ( like when you open the coin door), so I opened the door, wiggled the wiring loom, and shut the door which seemed to fix it for the moment :hmm:

I opened up the back box, and disconnected / reconnected the plugs to see if that was the problem, and for the next couple of days the machine would seem ok on some power cycles / games played, and then sometimes wouldn't power up correctly

I took the back glass off, and tried powering it up to discover that none of the voltage lights on the SAM board were illuminated which seemed strange.

After a bit of googling I found a thread on Pinside from3 years ago someone had a similar problem with their Xmen which is a SAM game. They found it was the pins in the big plug from the transformer under the playfield, so I lifted the playfield with the machine powered up and wiggled the connector. Every time i moved it the game would go on/off, so it looked like i had the same issue. I disconnected the plug and noticed some of the receptacle pins had opened up a bit, so I used a small screwdriver to nip them back round. Plugged it all back together, and this seems to have fixed it... Nice easy fix, but had me scratching my head with how it was misbehaving :clap:

Glad it’s fixed and as said above, thanks for sharing. I’d be lost without my Metallica working! - great game. I wiped all my scores recently and it got me playing it a lot more again.
