The main left flipper has begun sticking in the up position for about half a second before returning. It is otherwise powerful and operating normally

I have cleaned the opto on the flipper switch

I can't feel too much friction in the flipper itself. When I move it manually it returns as it should 20 times out of 20

Does anyone have an ideas what is up here please ? Might the plunger be magnetised ? It does attract steel, but no more than the other main flipper plunger

Thanks

This happened to me last week. It was a mushroomed plunger catching in the sleeve. New plunger and sleeve fixed it

Thank you for the tips. I must say that I ABSOLUTELY HATE messing with flippers as the damned things can take ages to get aligned again once you undo that bolt.

I will try the damaged plunger route first

Don't undo the bolt clamping the flipper unless you have to. You can remove the end stop, inspect and clean the plunger, replace the sleeve and even replace the plunger without undoing the clamp. If the end of the plunger isn't mushroomed over, use emery pAper to clean off the accumulated chuff on the faces of the plunger and end stop.

Accumulated chuff?? Is that a pinballmania tech term lol

Whilst the underside of this game is pretty clean, a general thorough clean up with isopropyl alcohol did the job. And praise The Lord, I didn't have to undo the flipper bolt. Negligible mushrooming, though I would think that this will be a future issue on the shadow due to the height of the phurba ramps and the power needed to scale them.

Thanks for suggestions,
