Stern : Star Wars Fall of the Empire

Without knowing if it calls home, with a pinball machine now being IoT it would be a difficult call to make.

If stern where being smart they would drop the frequency check for at least this first spike 3.

That way the whales can buy their unlicensed SWFE without issue (stern can just say the check wasn't developed in time if quizzed by Disney, new tech blah blah)

But when have stern been known to be smart ?

I've got a topper, just not the machine

Dutch Pinball Expo. Gary Addressed why no Star Wars. It's worse than having no Star Wars moving forward. It's at present Disney Europe doesn't think pinball is big enough to care about.

Basically.

Don't expect anymore Disney licensed titles in Europe.

Stern acknowledge they've left Europe market to languish. That changes apparently as of now.

They are sending someone to come across in Europe to grow the market.

As it stands there would always be a middle man due to no other pinball company willing to buy and stock them other than pinball heaven all other pinball re sellers never actually stock the machine so if it wasn’t for electrocoin you would have nothing or very limited machine

Is this the case in Europe? Say in Germany- it looks like Pinball paradise is the big player- are they paying a cut to Electrocoin would you imagine ?

If Stern are serious about a rebirth on Europe as they put it. They need to change the distribution model. Do away with the commitment numbers they force on distributors and let them choose how many of each title they will order. No one wants to be stuck with dead stock.

BoF doesn't force their distributors to a number. It's about time Stern changed the model.

Separate to this seminar they were asked about Electro Coin and apparently have received direct communication about it and are 'aware of the situation ' whatever that means 🤷‍♂️

I hope someone piped up after that last slide about getting rid of the needless middle man Electrocoin monopoly pushing up the prices of games in the UK, there's no need for 2 companies to be making a profit from the sale of Stern pins.

Stern don’t want to deal with seller s buying dribs and drabs they want you to buy a 40ft container full and no uk seller would ever do that

They won't there nothing in it for them, guaranteed sales regardless of demand.

The only thing that will change things if electrocoin get sick of being stuck with a load of bonds, John wick, venom and now probably walking dead.
They been burnt with rush, led leplin I can't see it being sustainable, but hey maybe Godzilla hd sold 1 million pounds worth in the uk

What are the actual European unit numbers ( including the UK ) for a title that is well received and sells ?

Jaws for example.

How does that compare to the USA volumes ?

Dont think Stern every publish any sales numbers.
Someone knows, Stern aren't investing by sending staff to Europe if they don't think it's a market worth keeping, that in itself says a lot. They now have huge overheads with the recent location move. Every sale counts to keep that machine turning.

A high level Stern employee told me over 35% of their sales were overseas.

How much of this is Europe I can't say but Jersey Jack told me global sales were significant and Europe was a good market.

So,,,, how have Avatar and more recently Predator managed to be licensed for European sales, both Disney owned ??

Found one today in Osaka Japan, so clearly the not for sale outside the US thing is very woolly. First impressions are not good. The last Star Wars in (was it) 2017 was very similar, so I don’t think Stern have jumped up 8 years with Spike 3. I put Evil Dead and Dune as my top 2 today and the new Star Wars is probably not in my top 10 of the games played. Avatar was weird but i enjoyed it - Not on buying wish list though. Will go back and play star wars again this week and hopefully it will redeem itself.
