Stern : Star Wars Fall of the Empire

I did see that in the video, but how much of it though? The gameplay video suggests not much.

I'm a bit of a soundtrack nerd (especially the SW soundtrack), so the unfamiliar tracks stick out to me a bit.

Having said that, it's a moot point at the moment because we can't get it over here anyway (through official channels).

I bet you I am more of a soundtrack nerd than you.....

Only thing that really stood out to me was how cool the back glass is. I love the border in the Kenner figure card style. Pop bumpers either side seems odd?

Has anyone got fomo about this game?
I like the look, nothing new that’s wowed me but I haven’t been really excited since Godzilla on a stern.
King Kong looks good but not enough to get my pinball juices flowing

I think it looks fantastic , it’s the first stern game in a while I’ve been pumped about

I messaged George about will we see them in Europe and this is his reply

Thanks Paul. We’re working on it. The issue is that the individual Disney markets get to decide if they take a product or not and Disney EU has decided that pinball is not big enough for them to take it. We hope that once they see the enthusiasm in the other markets that they’ll take it.

Hopefully we get it , I’m playing it 4 week in Chicago I can’t wait

So, the fonz was in Star Wars, who knew?! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hope you enjoy it Paul, always great to hear people loving something

Quite possibly :)
I've seen some comments on Pinside from people with the same concerns regarding the games music. Someone has replied to say that there are more licensed tracks in the game - they just weren't included in the gameplay video. So hopefully that is the case, and there isn't too much use of the generic non-licensed music.
I just hope we eventually get this over here.

Looks meh, helmets and toys look cheap, magnet looks like the coolest feature, pro has almost everything missing except the physical ball lock, screen I never look at them doesn't matter to me, sound any improvement over spike 2 is a plus. Will sell loads regardless because star wars, a safe release and probably the best star wars pin but the bar is low.

First impression is that it looks fine… there’s nothing particularly new or innovative with the layout, but loads of people here love their 90s fan layouts so that should have broad appeal

Bigger screen looks good, don’t love the photoshop style 2000s playfield art but that’s probably specified by Disney

Ray does some of the best code in pinball so I’m certain he’ll wring the most fun possible out of the layout 👍

I like it.

Jabba does look underwhelming but I suspect it will be modded very well.

Pleased it's the proper films, the Tie Fighter noise seems well incorporated as do the other iconic sounds like the light sabers.

I actually think the collapsing AT AT is very cool.

Blue armour is ghastly and it all needs chroming imo.

Not @rsed about Spike 3 and the new screen but happy the sound is better.

Can't wait to play it . . . Oh, hold on!

Quite like the bigger screen, it looks ok, if a little un inspired, good for beginners on location I guess, all the shots seem obvious. Not sure it's different enough for owners of the 2017 version to justify the cost of upgrading..... Well, If they could.

Am I the only one who has no problem with stock spike 2 sound quality?

The stock speakers in the Pro/Premium are crap, but once upgraded I've no problem with the sound quality.

I guess if you don't know how good the sound can be, you don't miss it.
Honestly don't mind the pro speakers, seems better than WPC, SAM etc and way better than sys11

But now you've said that I kinda want to upgrade them ;)

The powder coated wireforms are a step in the cost saving direction, hopefully it's not going to be the norm from now on

Just watched it and my opinion from the 3 minute trailer is not great.

The figures and playfield looks cheap and they are reusing the Falcon from the old game, which is just a joke.

I was expecting a lot more to be fair and from what I have seen so far, I am glad I didn’t sell my LE to fund this.
I've watched the trailer and the presentation and, yeah, it looks a bit... meh.

It's very much the same 'meh' graphic style and bare bones playfield as the original Stern Star Wars, but without any of the excitement I got from the fast layout and stuff like the hyperspace loop. The toys all look a bit rubbish, or I feel I've seen them before (the Rush lifting ramp, anyone?), and it feels like it's the sort of thing that'd be fun in an arcade if you like Star Wars and have never seen a pinball machine before.

Which may, indeed, be the market segment they're going for with this release - at which point, yay, them!

But, it's no King Kong (or UXM layout-wise, for that matter).

Probably will change with code but boy, they lean heavily on that theme tune. Deathstar needs to be 3x larger and sit in that corner better. ATAT is the onlt real standout figure, the rest appear to be dollar store specials. Fan layout lacks imagination.
For the debut spike3 game it lacks pizazz. Should have been Kong for that. Speaker upgrade looks good as does the screen but they seem to have the video asset the same size as the original screen and use the extra real estate for scoring etc.

I have a room in my house dedicated to Star Wars ( silly I know ), owned the previous Stern and apart from the Kenner back glass looking cool, nothing about the game excites me.
**** toys
Usual shots
Boring ball saves that never worked and from initial vids still don’t
Not terrible
Just same old same old

Stern can not afford to supply Europe anymore and making a cheap guaranteed sale in Star Wars.
Hope they are not going bust

It’s nothing to do with Stern - it’s the licensor being a pain. Stern aren’t going bust! As with the last Star Wars I suspect this one will print money.

Is this a Neil false account ?
He was just saying this on a WhatsApp account to me. 😂😂😂😂
What have you done to Stan Neil ?

It is to do with Stern. They could have paid more and got a europe licence.
Interestingly it says initial markets in the trailer which could mean other markets later.

See post #158 above, the reply from Stern says that Disney didn't want the pinball in Europe, not that Stern wouldn't pay for the Licence.
