Stern price increase.

Think it was under £7k but £8.5k for the CE with all the extras, topper, armour etc They keep the layout the same on all editions though, nothing cut out.

Everyone has room for just one more, it's the unwritten rule.
It's the ones after that you need to worry about where you are going to put them.

Isn’t this price bump more to do with Stern not being stupid and watching the market rather than the cost of materials?

Mando LEs sold out in the states and they where getting flipped with ease for $13-15k, POTC CE sold for $28k was it? 2 TRON LEs sold for $25k and $22k.

Why sell them for 10k when Stern could charge the flipper prices, still sell out before anyone has even seen a photo and pocket that extra cash themselves.

Same with toppers selling for $1000-$1500+ why are Stern going to keep the price around $600-700 when people are begging to buy them for a grand plus.

I’m sure there’ll be another thread for this but part of the price increase to cover this I imagine

‘Stern Pinball announced today the launch of Insider ConnectedTM, a comprehensive technology initiative to connect the universe of Stern pinball machines. The platform is designed to enhance and extend player engagement with the games across both home and commercial environments. It also presents professional operators of the pinball machines with a robust set of tools to drive location play, build player loyalty, analyze performance, make adjustments remotely and maintain the machines’

"All Stern Spike® 2 LCD games produced after the September launch will ship with the Insider Connected system installed; this includes new runs of previously released titles. Any existing Stern LCD game can be added to Insider Connected by installing a simple, inexpensive retrofit kit available from Stern distributors, dealers and the Stern Store®."

Sounds promising, although probably knowing our luck $50 in the USA and £500 in the UK

Read a bit more about it, haven't listened to the podcast yet. To me it seems like something that should have been kept as a mod, like it will be for older spike 2's. There'll be a whole bunch of people who don't care about it and only use it to check it works. Adding it to every machine is purely about making more money. They're a business at the end of the day and I understand that's all about making money but I think there would have been enough people adding it as a mod to make the r&d costs worth it.

I've often wondered if a nib pinball pays for itself from an operators pov. I suppose it is hard to tell as a lot of places are pay on entry but would be interested to know. In America of course. Can't see them paying for themselves here.

Really only been in the last few years I suppose that pinballs have been a nib at home purchase unless you were the rich and famous

On the podcast Gomez says he doesn't know the price of the upgrade but he insisted it won't be sold at huge markup. We'll see. For pro machines it includes a new apron. I'd be very surprised if it's under £150, probably way more.

He also said the next machine is Elwyn's which may be the first time they've publicly said that, and was really bigging it up to be something special. Also it will have the new online system.

I'm not sure I understand the achievement system, it sounded really cool but he made it sound like only machines on site, as verified machines, will get the achievements. That's a big loss to home users if I understand that correctly. I understand you can take the glass off to earn the achievements but they're only for fun after all.

A member on here told me that his Ghostbusters paid for itself in one year.

Or potentially import them from the US.
Yeah. I've considered that you could potentially hire a shipping container in the US, fill it with pinball machines and send it on a slow boat to Europe.

Don't know how much it would save on NIB Sterns, but I kinda fancied shipping across some old Gottlieb's. There are literally no copies of Black Hole anywhere on public display in Europe - at least, not according to the Pinside map.

That's the thing... outside of cities like San Francisco, middle-class Americans have more space, and money, to spend on stuff like pinball machines. They just have less money to spend on, erm, education and... healthcare. Personally, I think we've got the better deal on that one, but opinions on a pinball forum may vary!
