Stern POTC: Trough Jam Switch Activates when chest lock switch is pressed

Hey all,

Bit stuck here.

So this is the breakdown.

If the chest lock switch is pressed, the trough Jam switch shows active at the same time on switch test.

If trough jam (which is an opto) is interrupted on its own it does not activate chest lock.

Disconnecting the opto let's me activate the chest lock without issue.

Any ideas? I imagine it's a short somewhere.

Testing Pirate target switch 5 works OK.

Can't seem to locate any other stuck or broken switches.

So I took off the chest mech and checked the switch, it looks correct?

The striped end is connected to what I would call the back (where the switch resides).

For good measure I replaced the diode. No improvement.

If I remove the white blue wire from the receiver header for the opto it works for now. Of course without the trough jam switch.

The other issue I have is when you hit the ship it gets stuck and goes into ball search. The up post then releases and the ball goes onto play.

To clarify

If I break the beam on trough jam, only trough jam activates.

If I press the chest lock switch, both chest lock and trough jam activate.

Switch is wired as follows:

It’s probably not the chest switch it could be any switch you need to check them all my guess it’s probably one of the green stand up targets
The post will have a magnetised coil stop bracket you can disable that in the software anyway

Thanks will give the targets a look at. Maybe pirate target 5 is to blame.

I do remember when initial power on I was getting some double hits on targets but I thought I resolved it as I found some bodged wiring. Looks like I need to keep digging!

Ok spent the best part of a day on this and after all that it was the RX opto board...

If you touch the header connector and push it forward it stops the issue, if you bend it backwards the switch goes nuts spamming the switch matrix.

I tried reflowing the header but it's made no difference. For now it works but I'll buy a replacement.

The up post issue was down to a VERY dirty coil sleeve causing it to bind.

I now have a fully functional POTC.

Cheers,

Scott
