Hi all- found this piece of flipper crank that has snapped off an upper flipper assembly on WPT where it hits the end of stroke leaf switches. Q1 how did it probably happen? Q2 is it doing any damage to the game- might’ve been like that for a while and I’ve not noticed.
Will be ordering a new full kit 0A39E171-C5BA-4B62-896A-EC2472C0B491.jpeg73E07E7B-5A21-4709-8A5A-AF23810B2D7B.jpeg

1. Someone played the game...! :D Ok, it's a mechanical defect that finally gave way following a game being played.

2. Depends, most Stern games can manage without for a while but eventually they can get worse over time before the flipper can stop altogether with lots of head scratching by the owner until the fault is found.

Thanks- was a bit worried that I’d played it with a dodgy flipper. Only lifted the playfield up to change a bulb and found it lying in the bottom of the cab. Couldn’t find anything online about actuators snapping off- everything else seems to wear or break on these assemblies

No need for a new full kit, you can just change that one part. I’ve had this happen before, it’s a cheap & easy fix.

thanks andy- I might give it a good check over and see how everything else on the assembly is looking before making a decision

To my knowledge the EoS is only there to detect the bat being knocked down by a ball on Stern. So playing without the actuator shouldn’t cause issues.

It is but it can cause issues if its missing. I know, I've repaired a few I've the years. Better to repair than wait for it to go wrong whilst you're playing the best game of your life on it...

I’m not putting another game on it until it’s done- was wanting to rebuild the flippers this year anyway to get some experience under my belt. Is it worth putting new coils in at the same time? Flippers on this are very powerful still

You can play it as it is, playing it won't cause any further damage. Normally what happens is eventually the flipper goes weak or stops working altogether.

No need to change the flipper coils, total waste of perfectly good parts if you do.

Good to know- I’d not noticed anything off about the flipper so was a bit surprised that the part had broke. Cheers for all the input guys- will leave the coil as is 😁
