Hi All,

I’ve got an Iron Maiden and it’s the most sensitive thing to pitch and level issues of any machine I’ve ever played.

When I had it brand new it was fine. But when it seems to “settle” it can never complete an auto plunge loop. I can only assume it’s the level.

I’ve tried using Pin guy and it never seems quite right.

So want to know what everyone else uses to hest effect? I’d prefer to avoid mobile phone apps.

Thanks

Dave

Couldn't need a good polish could it?
Not trying to be rude, but my pin stripdown n clean made a whole heap of shots easier

I’d say it was unlikely. It was one of the second issues they did last year it only landed on these shores in December and not seen a whole lot of action as I was waiting to put it in my office.

So I assume either the level is off or the guide rail is off. Or something else is. But want to rule out the level first

I've had the same issue Dave.
Again from the latter run of machines.
I had to adjust the guide quite a bit and managed to get it good again, but have since moved the machine and it's playing up again, so I assume it must now be something to do with level/pitch.
On another note, have you had any issues with the steel protector at the back of the centre ramp, where the ball drops to the playfield. Mine has serious dished and is starting to peel, so looking at replacing it with a carbon fibre protector from Cliffy.

If you haven't moved the machine it's not the level, it needs cleaning.

To answer your original question.
Don't bother with any of the apps for a phone, they just aren't accurate enough. Get yourself a little torpedo spirit level, or even better a small digital level.

Machines been moved so will haven contributed.

It’s a known issue on the machine that the auto launcher doesn’t complete loops on some machines.

There’s a long thread on it on pin side and most solved it by sticking a small wedge on right side of the shooter guide to angle it in the right direction. But I don’t want to do that until all other options have been explored.

I did have a fibre cloth with me when I was looking to level and gave the area a bit of a rub over. It made no difference.

As mentioned, the amount of plays it’s had is hardly enough for it to get dirty.

I'm very happy with this:

Looks like a toy but it's accurate and sensitive - and easy to place anywhere on the playfield.

I had a NIB IMdn so am fully aware of the 'issues'.

A machine will change the way it plays from as little as 10 games as it picks and transfers dirt from around the machine.
Giving it a bit of a rub over with a cloth - is not cleaning it. Use the product of your choice and give the playfield a proper clean.

Once the machine is level and CLEAN

Check that the ball sits flush in the shooter lane with both the autoplunge forks AND lines up with the centre of the rubber tip on the plunger.
Make any adjustments to guide to ensure the trajectory of the ball makes it round the loop on full power AND can still make the other secret skill shots.
Ensure that the posts securing the guide are securely fastened - I never had the need to put a wedge there, but feel free to do so if you want.
After you've finally secured the guide, check that the trajectory still works.

Others have found success by upping the power of the coil for the autoplunge, or actually changing that coil to a more powerful one, although I never had that issue.

Trust me on the CLEAN though.
