Can anyone tell me if there is any special lighting effects while playing SM that require incandesent bulbs as opposed to LED ones. If there is would an OCD board sort this out?
The LOTR I sold last year had one fitted and I was told this is a must on this game if wanting to convert to LED and get the full intended experiance.

LED'd mine except the villain inserts (as above). Not got and LED OCD..... happy with it... get a bit of ghosting elsewhere but not too bad.

the white arrows also do different brightnesses.

I use an OCD board with Comet standard 2SMD’s. If you follow the guidance it works really well. Either LED+OCD or don’t bother at all - the middle ground is a compromise and I personally find it hard to look at.

Thanks all I will try all of the above and someone has been generous enough to offer me a loan on an LED OCD to compare so I may do that.
As I’m not sure if SM is a keeper yet It’s not top of the list of jobs ATM.

Stumbler when are these boards gonna a be ready for Ripleys?

Spiderman is bloody good. I have the LED OCD board in it and it looks as fresh as any new stern. Dare I say it looks better!
 
Same time @Kenny Taylor (two weeks), board supports SAM, WS, SYS11, WPC and DE. I only have 10 but you are fourth on the list!

Apologies but chip shortages have been a struggle.
 
I've goto add that Afterglow/ledocd have ruined me.

Many times I've been out driving and said in my head "that cars indicators could do with an Afterglow"
 
I was always happy with the stock LED look, until I got an LED-OCD, now I need Afterglow boards for the other games.

Side by side they look so much better.
 
I had two OCD boards, removed them as I couldn't tell the difference.
 
I believe some games benefit more than others.
Have mine fitted with non ghosting LEDs so not really getting the full effect as anything under 35% power and they stay unlit, but there's still a noticeable difference with the way the LEDs fade in and out.

Flipper alignment and Leds ,😝

I could tell the difference with the GI one and insert one immediately, was like a whole new game on Black Rose and Road Show. Effects I didn't know were there. It was a headache of flickering LEDs before.

I can see how people might not see much difference with the inserts. To me it makes them softer on the eyes, like you're smoothing them out. They aren't ON OFF ON OFF when flashing, especially when they're super duper bright LEDs. (I lose the ball on AFM with the Martian inserts flashing so brightly amongst an open playfield that doesn't have any GI).

With am Afterglow or LEDOCD there's a fade in and out that is really pleasing to the eyes.
