My Road Show has a plastic translite, Fish Tales glass. The difference is noticable and I'd like to change Road Show to glass.

Has anyone had a glazier make up a backglass and if so what dimensions and spec? I understand the edges have to be smooth?

David 😊

just measure it. slightly smaller is better than being 1mm too big. get edges sanded/smoothed. corners are ok. dubbed corners cost more (they round off the corner) but if the edges are sanded it’s usually ok to not bother. personal choice.

Does it need to be toughened like the playfield glass?

I contacted a local glazier and they won't do toughened in 3mm, only 4mm.😕

Correct. You can't get glass tempered in 3mm which is why we use acrylic for backglasses. Actually it's difficult to find a glass factory that will temper less than 5mm.

Is it different in the USA then?

Do you know where to get acrylic made up?

When I had one break (ages ago and I can't remember what happened) I just got a 3mm piece of normal glass cut to size. You are going to protect the edges with plastic trims anyway so no need to get it sanded. Just be careful when fitting the trims.
