Space Station Factory settings

I spent my whole day off working on my space station.
Have it 95% working now with a dodgy GI string and the right sling not working.

I put fresh batteries in but when I boot it 80% of the time is says FACTORY in the 1p display.
the 2p display is out.
I have to keep resetting until it boots into the game.

any ideas?

You might be requiring a new battery holder...

Obvious place to start now that you say it

On the space station that I had, I had to replace the two little Diodes that form a loop from the battery's to the board and back again, it might have been D1&D2 but you'd have to check info is available on line (not much help that , I'll try and find a link if I can)
Anyway what was happening was that one of the Diodes had failed and this was allowing current to go back into the battery's causing them to charge!!! This was killing battery's and they got awful hot, it was a simple thing to do which sorted my problem out, and never got the factory settings message again as the battery's were able to power the memory and save the settings!

Battery holder was toast.
Remote one fitted and all good in the hood.
Now to fix the right sling........
