There is two displays out on my space station.
Top right and bottom left.
What does this mean?
does it mean that both those displays are borked?
or could it point to the logic going to them ?
thanks

The earliest System 11 games used separate 'slave' displays, each on their own small pcb, but Millionaire onwards have the displays and control circuitry all on one large board.

The panels can fail at any time - Deith Leisure loaned a brand-new Space Station for the POA show at Loughborough in 1988. I noticed that the #3 display had failed while it was in attract mode, before being used for the later rounds and final of the competition.

Often, when these display envelopes have worn out, faint metallic-looking 'speckles' can be seen in the spaces around the display segments.

Cheers.
Can I swap them around?
Good question.
I don't know the answer because I've never had a system 11 before.
Are they modules that come off or are they soldered?
I could desolder them but would rather leave well enough alone!

Ok.
So they are modular.
I can switch them around and see if they are gassed.
Can you recommend led replacements?
Cheers

Sorry, Cryptkeeper,

I wasn't clear about the viability of swapping the displays; it isn't as easy on Space Station as with early System 11 games, since all four envelopes are soldered to the same circuit board. To make things more awkward, the two upper displays (#1 & #2) are 'alpha-numeric', with a 'star-burst' pattern of additional segments, while #'s 3 & 4 are the older 7-segment type.

Ah yes,
that makes sense.
I might just bite the bullet and get the pinball display set and be done with it.
Unless lukewells has another option.
150 beans is a lot

when its a panel type and its an alpha-numeric that's down it just seems that pinled is the way to go. at the age they are original displays are going to go at some point. I prefer now to get a discount due to dead displays than to have the originals "hanging in there"

Went with a pinled in the end.
Pinball displays UK went out of stock.
I got 4 little filters to put over the displays makes them look great.
I'll update when I have the head back together ,Getting the speaker grills/metalwork painted

Glad you got it fixed. Desoldering the old alphanumeric displays is a tough job and they are bl@@dy expensive
