Just lifted up my playfield on my jjp avatar to discover black soot on the bottom panel of the cabinet. I believe it’s directly under where a coil is.

Any suggestions? Is this normal/okay?

Plunger smacking against the end stop, metal on metal. You can change the coil stop and plunger or give it a clean and squeeze a bit more life out of them. The coil sleeve will no doubt be black and dirty too so change that too at some point.

Completely normal nothing to worry about it just normal operation of coils working.flipper coils are the most effected areas of a lot of this metal dust . You can strip the mec down and clean or fit new parts ie plunger coil stop and coil sleeve , but most likely it’s getting ready for a clean and check . How bad is the dust on the mec ?

Thanks guys that’s very informative.
I’m quite surprised though as it’s still a relatively new machine. Under 900 games. (I bought new)
I will have a look at the coil itself, not really sure what I would be doing if I were to change the coil sleeve etc as it’s my first machine.
