SOLVED: Fuse F104 Driver Board BoP

Can someone tell me what fuse F104 is for in a Bride of Pinbot please?

I have one that is constantly blowing.

Manual says it is coils 9 to 16 but it is not because they are working fine - in fact all coils and lamps are working fine with the exception of the head motor relay which is coil 27.

Surely F104 is not a dedicated fuse just for that relay?

I have taken it out, tested with an external power supply. I have reflowed the pins. I have replaced the diode. It's TIP102 (Q22) tests good but when I put it back in and replace F104, the fuse blows and coil 27 is the only one not working so it must be that.

Please someone confirm it to be so and save my sanity and tell me what F104 is for :-)

Cheers

Andy

F104 does feed the solenoids/coils 9 to 16. It's the same driver board for ST:TNG.

Pull the violet/orange wire from pin 2 on J107 will confirm if F104 is being blown by the head controls or not.

Also replied on your other thread with some ideas for fault finding.

Thanks but Coils 9 to 16 are working fine even though F104 has blown.

There is no violet and orange wire on pin 2 J107.

Thanks for the suggestions on the other thread too :-) The relay is working again now so that can't be F104 either BUT now Coils 1 to 4 are working only intermittently and no fuses are blowing (other than F104 which is permanently out of action obviously!).

Seems I had incorrectly connected a HV wire, previously used for HV display, which had been replaced by pinled board, to connector on driver board that was feeding that fuse!

Luckily no damage done.
