Soldering irons - advice

Station or just an iron, if its just a resonable priced iron for the occasional job you can't go wrong with Antex Iron

For board /bench work this Maplin station was a firm fave on here, sadly no more :-

This looks exact the same with Tenma brand

A cordless (gas) is good for small wiring jobs around the machine.

I can 100% recommend the above - my trusty antex of 40 years+ gave up eventually last year and so I bought one of these. Amazing. Heats up in no time and it's easy to get extra and different sized tips cheap from ebay. Also spare handles and elements are cheaply easily available too,
