SMD electronics engineer?

Anyone know of anybody who has equipment, steady hand and eyesight for SMD electronics fault finding and repair.

Basically got a LedOCD board that has a faulty transistor (since one column of lights is always on) so it needs checking to see which one and then replacing. Just that everything is so teeny tiny :)
 
I've got the same problem as Spadge - shorted my LedOCD board and now I've got column 5 permanently on. Game works fine without it. I can't even see the lettering on the board, never mind attempt to do any fixes to it.

If anyone is willing to help out, please let me know. Happy to pay the going rate.

I have had mine checked and there's not much that could be done unfortunately. I think i'll return mine?
 
Out of interest how did you guys damage the board? a short under the playfield/loom or connecting it wrong?

In my case, building my own TZ robot mod and connecting it wrong. Learning the hard way as usual...
 
Why cant it be replaced, can you get a close up picture of it

Nothing visible at all. Yeah last resort packing it off to holland, it's a reseller.

The transistors Q5 and Q7 test fine. The problem I think lies in U1 and (I think) U4 above right. They're hard to identify with the marking on them and could be bespoke.
 
Is there not a data sheet ayplace to see what U1 and U4 are ? can you not see the markings under a magnifier or have they rubbed them off.
I cant see why they could not be replaced if we could find out what they are and the cost, but most IC's are cheap as chips when you use somebody like aliexpress, they do take 30days to get here.
This is one I replaced on the JJP light board, was so small I did it all under the scope with some paste and gentle heat.

I have no idea what this board does or how much they cost, but im happy to give one a go if you can find the IC's

That's a shame, I was hoping that the PIC was undamaged, as it certainly seems to be doing its job with all the other rows and columns (at least in my case). I thought this was likely to point to the individual components for that column being blown. Thanks to everyone for your comments. Not sure what to do now except put it down to experience...

Ask OCD if they repair their boards ?
 
Problem solved. Spoke to the reseller (pinballshop.nl) who advised me to discuss it with Harold at Ledocd. He suggested that transistor Q5 was the likely culprit, as that handles column 5. I was lucky to find a local coin-op specialist repair shop who do SMT work, and who replaced Q5 while I waited. And now it works.

Thanks to everyone above for their comments and ideas and to Maggi Electronics for fixing it.
 
Here you go. http://maggielectronics.co.uk/ They did it for much less than the advertised PCB repair price, but that might be because I told them exactly what I needed and gave them the replacement transistor. And because I was hanging around their reception.
