Small issue on TAF when I turn it on - Thing makes a loud banging noise then stops

Evening,

Ok ok, I could have this all wrong and I hope that if I do someone will kindly tell me so.... however, when I turn my TAF on when the display is booting up there is a loud clunking noise (I think its a solenoid attached to the thing box) coming from the left underside of the machine. It clunks for 6-7 times and then stops and you can start the game... is this normal or not?

Cheers

Noel

No, not normal:(
Left underside? This won't be thing as it's on the right. Is the ramp divertor flipping when the noise comes on?

Check the wires going onto the coil in case one has come off or more likely a wire off a switch next to a coil that's firing

John,

Well done you spotted my mistake... (slightly sheepish now) the clucking is from the right underside. I know it's not the ramp diverter.

Cheers

Noel

If it's the RHS it won't be the thing box as that's pretty much empty but there is a solinoid in the subway. Check the connections there. I suspect there is a good chance that the switch where the ball is kept for multiball is registering as on, so the solinoid is trying to clear the "ball" when you turn it on.

Time to use the switch matrix test to see if there is a switch stuck on in the subway (or elsewhere)...

Finally to give an answer the micro switch on the kickout assembly was stuck / not connecting.. 5 min job and now peace and quiet when starting up!
