Side rail removal - hints please

Hi

Any tips on how to remove this so I can get my side rails off? I've removed the nut, and the one on the other side didn't have that metal-looking thing so came out easily. If I grab the threads with needle-nosed pliers, I get a slight rotation, but then the resistance is too much for my grip to overcome. I have put a small amount of WD40 on it, so am waiting for that to soak in a little.



I could probably drill a small hole & use a screw remover, but I'd rather not have to.

have you tried gently tapping it to see if it moves a bit more, or fo you think that’s another nut to unscrew?

Looking at it from a different angle, I could see that it was another nut, just that there was no room round the edge to get my socket to engage. By putting my head & one arm in through the coin door, I could just about grip the edges of the nut with needle nosed pliers & coax it around a couple of turns, the it was far enough out to use the socket. Bloody uncomfortable, though.

Sounds like me trying to change the side light in my car....there must be a way people do this!

I would keep applying small amounts of WD40 and leave it to soak in. Also, as above, little taps will help it

That worked for me on my SFII.

Sounds like me trying to change the side light in my car....there must be a way people do this!

LW3 - a different example could be fine, the other side was fine, and when I put it back, I'll be using a washer so it isn't a problem for the next person to need to do it (especially if it's me).
