Shadow - distorted sound in the menu

I gave three wpc games. TAF and tz make identical tone sounds when you cycle through the menus

On shadow, it soûnds distorted though. But when you play the game, the speech and other sounds on shadow are crystal clear, there isn't the slightest hint of a problem

Any ideas pls ?

It sounds like the sound is being played through a speaker that has been blown, like the guitar intro on Mudhoney's "touch me I'm sick"

The tone when you input a high score is similarly distorted, but not the gameplay sounds

My Shadow does the same! Even with new speakers.

My AFM was the same, gradually got worse until the speech started sounding slightly distorted too. AV board is now in for repair.
