I have noticed that the alien head assembly on my Sega, Independence day has a broken switch that (I am guessing) triggers when the alien head is open / closed but I think that something may be missing from the assembly. Does anyone have an Independence day that is willing to send images so I can compare with mine? I have looked online but couldn't find anything helpful. Thanks!IMG_1297.JPG

Hi,

I'll take a photo when I get a chance - they are currently in the shack at the bottom of the garden rather than in the house

OK, thanks. I want to get it working properly and a few pictures would really help me out. There's no rush so take your time.

Cheers!

You could have a look in the bottom of the cabinet, you might find the old switch lever... has been known...

I've had the game for 2 years and the cabinet was full of bits and pieces when I got it. The head opens and closes just fine so the purpose of the lower switch is a little baffling.

Does the multiball for 3 locks work?

A ball into the head when open scores 1 lock. 3 locks starts multiball

From the manual, this switch 52 (servo open/close) may signal that the head is open/closed rather than actually controlling the opening/closing

The 3 locks and multiball work fine. The only reason I found the broken switch was because I am trying to source a replacement alien head and wanted to see how it came off. I really need a few pictures for comparison.

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting the photo sorted. The good news is I think you are just missing the switch, so should be an easy fix. The metal plate turns round with the motor and depresses the switch which in turn should tell the head to close.

Hope you solve it ok
