How come some 8gb sd cards seems to have a different raw capacity even though they are the same brand and type?

2 integral sd cards class 10 micro sdhc variety

one is 8002732032 bytes

and the other is 7751973792 bytes.

Frikin annoying and time wasting as you can't clone images reliably when the frikin byte count changes.

Why is nothing straight forward any longer..., ****ing me off

it’s because of defective memory sectors, picked up in the fabrication process

Frikin annoying when you master an image at the higher amount and all your 8gb cards are lower sized. I'm upping to 16gb card, which should solve it but I don't like it as its wasteful. 16gb card are actually cheaper than 8gb now though to

I have had this problem in the past as well, and like you had to use a 16gb in the end to clone an 8gb,annoying to say the least
