Complete Roadshow - Under construction

Picked up a Roadshow yesterday. Unfortunately this one had been left out in the rain. Let's see what I can do about getting it back to a restored state!

The game was covered in soot and mold.



Lock bar and coin door will likely be replaced.



Right shooter rod is pretty seized!



Backbox has delamination and is missing large chunks. Will see what I can do.





Cabinet is fair, usual cabinet fade.








Red looks gothic





Playfield is dirty but pretty good!



Cabinet has some warpage.



Looked like a bit of a rats nest inside.
Transformer is chock red.



Playfield rear is pretty good.



Rear cab is chewed.







I'll need to work on Ted's bash area.





Shooter lane is good!




The Apron has seen better days!!!

I’ve seen a lot worse get brought back to high end but you certainly have a job on your hands.
Respect to you in bringing back from the brink instead of taking the easy option and parting it out. We need to save these beautiful machines and I’m sure you will do a great job in doing that.

Horrifying. I saw these pics yesterday and sleeping last night was tough, especially as I just let my Road Show leave yesterday.

It amazes me there's still games hiding out there, rotting away awaiting rescue.

Looking forward to seeing this ted brought back to life!

Yesterday was about a 12 hour day of stripping and cleaning parts.

I was going to update the log last night but I had a thumping headache from the mold.

The rubbers on the game was so encrusted they literally disintegrated when I touched them.










A lot of the metals were either heavily oxidised or rusted... or both!




I had to use a few screw extractor bits to get some out as they were seized.




The ramps were caked and all the metal ramps need replating they have severe rust.

Spent a while taking out the mechs and giving them a good sand and polish.
















This shooter rod just got chucked, the other side didn't even have one. No doubt it faired worse!




Getting the hinges off took some PERSUASION

Sending all these parts off to the powder coaters midday today.

Things I need to do still:

• Rebuild the pops - replace the skirts, body and top, new lamp holders
• Rebuild Flippers
• Change out all incandescents (partly done topside GI)
• Repair the cabinet and Re-decal
• Repair the backbox and Re-decal
• Repaint the Interior
• Rebraid the interior
• Check all coils/replace all sleeves and stops
• Replace some broken plastics
• Replate the ramps
• Replace TED back head piece
• Repaint the faces/jaws of Red/Ted
• Replace shooter rods, springs washers etc
• Replace the glass
• Replace the coin door
• Apron decals
• Replace flipper buttons
• Assess the electronics for replacement
• New side rails
• New leg levellers
• New balls
• New rubber set
• New Flipper Bats

Today I spent about 3 hours cleaning all the plastics, adding new star posts, decanting the metals from the tumbler and fitting the metals to the playfield. I also disassembled the pops and replaced the skirts, springs, bodies and bases.

Used new nylon nuts and wood screws where I could. Kept some of the older harder to source screws in action.

Tomorrow I'll take the posts out and stick em in the tumbler. I've also put together a BOM for all the parts I need ...

Dear God the underneath is caked the game has been abused!

The flipper mechs were really bad.

I also noticed while under there that the coil for the diverter coil on the left side was cut. Makes sense why the left rod was missing now. I bet this was on location and someone pinched the shooter rod for another game.

I ended up replacing two coils with new ones I spent ages cleaning them and in the end giving up they were just too grime ridden to keep.

Honestly I should probably strip the bottom instead of piece mealing it.

Replaced all pawls/Links I need new stops but I've somehow eaten my entire supply.

I'll get some ordered.

I had some orange titans lying about so I've partially populated the top side.

This weekend I strip and sand the cab.

I'm working on a limited budget on this game so I'm only buying snapped plastics at the moment.

I really did want new blocks. So weird no one does them. I'm also having the same issue with tbe back of TED's head. its cracked and the only one I can find is a 3D print jobby on Marco...

I hate target decals in general but mine came with the hazard stripe stickers on the dozer blade so I've not known it any different

I've never cared for that mod. But, GIocd/ afterglow is the one it needs in my opinion epic effects

Buy some thin 3mm/5mm wide draught excluder tape for around door frames

Use a bit of sense of course

It will stop the impact on the dozer and cover the filth

The original was beyond repair as all the screws sheared off when trying to remove them and fortunately someone had a second hand one on eBay which I purchased and cleaned with finishing paper.
