Can anyone offer help on this strange fault? The left flipper button controls 3 flippers. However the top 2 have now stopped working (the bottom one is fine). I have gone through the Test menu and they all work as normal. This same fault happened about 3 weeks ago but rectified itself overnight. Why would the top 2 flippers work OK in test mode but not from the flipper button (remembering that the bottom flipper works fine)?:help:

Try checking the connection to the opto pcb behind the flipper button in the cabinet.

Try cleaning the opto's, the upper flippers should be the lower of the two U shaped optos.

If there's still a problem then swap the pcb with the one on the right and see if the fault is cleared, to confirm if opto or not. If it is try reflowing the pcb header pins first before seeing about replacing the U opto.

Good luck !

So, I turned Roadshow on last night – same problem. Went into Switch Edge tests and thought “funny this is not showing any errors”. Came out of test mode, started a game and found that all flippers operate as normal! Reckon it’s that Black Magic again. Still, I now know what to look for should this happen again.

This problem flared up again last night. I checked and ruled out the optos & opto connection last night. This morning I consulted the manual & traced the relevant connectors on the Fliptronics board in the top-left of the back box, namely J905, J906 & J902. I reseated these three connectors & this finally got all 3 flippers working again.
It’s amazing how many problems are solved by reseating connectors. The problem is working out which one(s) to reseat! :closed_2:
