So the right sling shot switch is no longer working on my ACDC; in test it's showing as "out of service"
If I go in to coil test, it fires the right sling no problem and so must be an issue with the right switch (left is working fine and firing during play as it should when a ball makes contact)
Looking underneath the playfield I can see any wires from the bottom of the sling switches which have come lose; all looked tidy.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks 20220923_212700.jpg

I don't know how stern diagnostics work but I'd assume out of service must mean it hasn't had any continuity from that switch at all.

Take the rubber off the sling and look at the blades of the leaf switches to see if they aren't stuck together. Do another test and manually push the leaf switches closed and see if you get any results in the test.

Thanks for thr suggestions guy and hope you are both well Dave and Chris👍🏻
Not panicking, as know this is a minor thing to fix and can still play.
Re; the switch being closed, I'd originally ruled that out, as thought if it was ksed it'd show up as active in the switch test?

Taking the rubber of is easier said than done, due to the cannon being above the right sling.
Might just unscrew and pull both switched out through the underside of the PF to get a good look at the switches and see if I can see any diode issues.

Will report back if I manage to sort it 👍🏻 - thanks again.

You can always just pull the rubber up from one end to give it slack so it's not on the switches.
I think if the switch is permanently closed it might class it as out of service. Depends on how Stern games see errors.

So looks like it's a diode issue; just touching one part and one end of the diode attaching to the right sling has come loose.
Off to try and find a local shop which sells a soldering iron (and possibly a 1N4004 diode in case I need one - think that's the one used)

So I managed to fix it! - ordered a sldering iron at the weekend and roday replaced the diode and all good:-) (that was a bit of a Ball ache - I'm not a great solder and gravity working against me made it even more difficult - dropped a couple of diodes in the process never to be seen)

Did manage to beat my GC score before it if fixed it (kind of felt a bit like cheating with not right sling working though...) - what an amazing game 🤘🏻

Silver lining is that I've learned something ans also I realised that my machine has colour changing lit flipper buttons :-) - a lead was unplugged/came loose during shipping.

Thanks again Dave and Chris B👍

kind of felt a bit like cheating with not right sling working though...

I used to play a Bally Eight Ball, with its left slingshot not working. The game has no return lane on the left, so the corner of the slingshot meets the shoulder of the flipper. Because of this, the inoperative slingshot made it easy to trap the ball for a important shot with the left flipper, awarding the bonus multipliers and lighting extra ball. That really felt like cheating.

Had a quick few games after fixing last night and my scores were defo less than my GC:-) Although I think this was because in the back of my mind I was thinking about the cooker timer (the other week I put a pizza in the oven and thought I'd have a quick game. Sod's law I was having the game of my life when the cooker timer went off, so I basically rushed through the rest of my game:-(...)
