image.jpeg Hello everyone I realise I'm a bit late to the pinball 2000 party, but my RFM is currently running soft wear version 1.1, I'm not really that surprised as its in great condition and was HUO for the last 8 years & possibly from new? So it looks like it's never been touched!
My question is I've heard that there's soft wear 1.5 freely available but I've also read that there's a 1.6? ( also remember reading about a further update?) can anyone say what & where is the latest version?
Just ordered a null modem cable and gonna have a go at updating, got me old computer, just need to know what I should be installing?
Any help appreciated
Thanks Tony

Let me know how you get on. I'm thinking of updating too but my PC is too new - win 95 needed ? Be interested in how it goes

I'm shortly about to swap out my saucer kit for a better one. Assuming it works I will have a spare old saucer kit going to anyone who wants it. If u r interested pm me and I'll send pics of how it is wired. I should have the new kit installed nest week and the old one will go for a tenner

The machine I bought has saucers with red LEDs that light in a rotating manner. A bit like this:

Mine just rotate in the circular case style.

I am upgrading to rgb colour change so I have a pair going spare after I have installed

Yes I'll have em let me know how you get on, I've got a couple of spare Ramps and plastics if your after anything like that?

Thanks Jim, I think you've done a load of work to keep pin 2000 viable, hats off to you!
It's good to know there's help out there.
One of the interesting aspects to this hobby is having a go yourself, but it's great to know there's support out there as and when required.

Finally got around to updating my RFM!
Was quite frustrating at times, my old laptop turned out to be too "new", after I stripped out another computer from a mame project to find out that it needed to be a 32-bit rather than a 64-bit???
I got Jim @myPinballs on standby offered to do it for me at a reasonable rate, but I wanted to have one last go!
Managed to find a "old" 32-bit dell local, was in full working condition so paid my money got it home & it wouldn't work!
I'm sorry to say but at this point I Lost my rag a bit and "took it apart, hey what did I have to loose?" undid some connections and reconnected, and it started working "must have not liked being moved?"

Made a school boy error tried to update without the update manager!!!

Got the update manager, and after a bit of messing managed to revert my update from revision 1.1 back to 0.8???
I then installed them in numerical order, and this seemed to work?
I did turn down the baud rate and this appeared to help!
It wouldn't update to 1.6 but 1.5 is generally accepted as ok so quite chuffed that I managed it in the end.

I've put the Old 32-bit computer back together and it still works if anyone wants to borrow/buy? It let me know and you too can have a evening of frustration,
Now onto the other jobs!

Thanks for the post Tony - this is a job I need to do. Then again, maybe not [emoji15]. Have you seen any benefits from the upgrade ?

To be honest I've not really played it that much since, but it did seem to play better! Or maybe that was my playing!
I was glad to have got the 1.5 as the previous versions seem to have a possible crash at one of the options so if I ever get good enough this wouldn't be an issue!
