Hi,

Anyone have the ability to recreate pcbs?

Not for pinball related gear, I have two pcbs broken which are only small, approx 12 x10cm and the original manufacturer no longer produces them
 
Easy is what I like to read 😂

Does it matter than the current pcb is defective? Would a fully working pcb Be needed to reverse engineer?
 
Waits for the 8 layer 200 part SMD board with a couple BGA chips :D

Yes that thought crossed my mind this morrning. Obvs had too many sherries last night when I said it was easy. I maybe should have said - "easy if its a single sided board, possible if its double sided - but your p****g in the wind if its got internal layers. " :):)
 
Hopefully is from the 80s and all TH then should be pretty easy :) I’m gonna say it’s a bad cap :D it’s always the cap! Hehe

Hmmm could be tricky depending what’s wrong with it. What is the issue? Or just does not work? What is it meant to do?
 
Basically these are out of a set of racing simulator pedals by fanatec.

It's the main board, the brake pedal does not work, it's a load cell brake, changing the load cell on the brake does not fix the issue,
These are £350ish pedals, fanatec no longer make these boards and only way to "fix" is buy there newer pedals for another 400+ 😭
 
what’s it from? first job is to try find the circuit diagram. also what’s the exact issue with it? completely dead or partially functioning?

Does the pc detect it? Could it just be a software or driver issue rather then the pcb it self?
 
This looks like your culprit, I think it's a short possibly caused by moisture:

If you're really lucky it may be possible to clean it up and have it working again. I had something similar on a pinball DMD pcb before now.
 
To get a one off board made, £400+ is the cheaper option. It probably has custom software/firmware on that board. Is it a double layer or 4 layer board?

A board like this would be a ball ache to remake just one off, and would take so many man hours. The labour alone for a technician to remake this board would be the big cost. Without a schematic I doubt any PCB tech guy I know would take it on.

If the board they copy is not even working - it could take a few attempts to get a worker.

I agree that chip in the middle (some sort of micro controller) is doing everything on this board, the rest is just support components which don't usually fail, if this board is completely dead it will be that big chip and it will have custom firmware so if its dead there aint much you can do :( at least without a replacement chip or firmware.

But be nice to know the exact fault as if its still being detected by your pc that would be a good sign. Or maybe just the regulator has died? Could try powering it up and checking your getting 3.3v or what ever the main reg kicks out.

Looks like the board is powered via the usb 5v, see if any thing it coming out of this chip. Pretty sure its the regulator.
 
Just noticed it is actually a 94v-0 PCB which means it is not made from standard PCB material.

It has had a flammability test and is used in high stress areas. Does this board get plenty of shock?
